Took it back in and after about an hour of searching they found the condenser leaking on the right side of the car, you could see it down a gap in the plastic panel on the side of the condenser. You could see the oil/dye. SOURCE: 2002 door locks failed ford escape. Using a multimeter, check for voltage at the lock/unlock solenoid. Disconnect the connector and probe the unlock side with the other lead on a good ground. Hit the unlock twice and see if you get voltage. If yes, the solenoid may be defective or if not, you could possibly have a bad relay.
If you have the correct key lock the doors from the outside with the key and lock it twice ( the doors ( all of them ) should lock). Leave the car alone for a minute, maybe 5. Then unlock the door twice, all the doors should unlock the second time. Enter the car and start it with the key. If you with a remote door lock fob that can work too.
I have the same problem on my 05 Mondeo Zetec passenger door, have to tug really hard to get it to open, internal catch and central locking is fine. I have just removed the door card and examined the mechanism, I think that the pushrod going down to the release mechanism doesn't quite go far enough, a slight extra push by hand on the inside
