The Only other way to get laurels is from Achievement Chests, which in the upper boxes, give a decent amount. It is a nice supplement. In regards to equipment: Yes, Amulets are bought with Laurels exclusively. Rings drop in Fractals, at even levels, 10+. So, if you open up level 20, you will get 2 chances a day at rings, 30, you get 3 chances.
Posted May 16, 2022 (edited) Fastest way for a new player would be to farm gold and then craft them. Living story maps for the trinkets. Fractals won't work because you need ascended in order to slot agony resistance infusions and you wouldn't have access to the higher tier groups in the LFG.
If you're not in a hurry, 450-500 can be done on the daily ascended mats (deldrimor steel and spiritwood for weaponsmith). Since you need those to craft ascended weapons anyway, it can be a nice way to waste less funds. I am sure it works for 450-475 only. Past 475 discover exotics is best way, as i know. All the other ascended gear is easy to get. You're also not taking into account some of the highly valuable items that came in the Chests of Black Lion Goods. Some people do, yes, but is the average player really going to spend gems or real money on Black Lion Salvage Kits, Mystic Forge Stones, or Black Lion Chest Keys?
