It took me a long time (2 weeks, maybe) to actually get interested in A Game of Thrones, so I was reading it halfheartedly, but as soon as I started to learn who everyone was (seriously: having a huge cast of characters can be very off-putting), then I started getting into it. The other 4 books only took 2 weeks. A Game of Thrones, while being the title of the HBO series, is the 1st book in a (planned) series of 7 called "A Song of Ice and Fire". Essentially, George RR Martin set out to write an epic story set on a massive scale: hundreds of characters strewn across a large world, rich lore, and countless reasons for wanting to throw your book directly at his face (in a good way!).

Watch season 1 -> read all the books -> finish the show. Get the books and subscribe to HBO, then do what you want, that’s what it’s all about 🤙. I mean, if you can afford both.
